MultiValue (MV) or “Pick” database technology is sometimes referred to as the fifth NoSQL technology. Developed in the mid-1960s, MultiValue database systems continue to be leading technologies in the retail, banking, travel industry, oil & gas, healthcare, government, and education sectors.

Revelation Software released OpenInsight 10 in April and now the company is introducing some more upgrades to the platform that will boost cloud capabilities, introduce O4W, and more. BlueFinity is entering a strategic distribution partnership with Uniware that will enable Uniware to introduce Evoke to the market. Uniware will distribute Evoke to businesses across Australia and New Zealand, and provide support, development and implementation services. Oracle customers can now purchase Informer to combine Oracle data with data from other sources throughout the organization for comprehensive analysis, whether that data is in the cloud, on premise, structured or unstructured.

In all seriousness, though, one hardly needs look to science fiction for examples of how the proliferation of duplicates is a common nuisance of our modern lives. Multiple envelopes in your mail containing the exact same bill, for example, or multiple copies of the exact same file cluttering up your hard drive are common and annoying problems—even in our digital age. Indeed, in the world of computer programming there are entire disciplines dedicated to optimizing applications or data structures through the elimination of unnecessary duplicates.

Based in Saddlebrook, N.J., Riverside Cemetery maintains public records for burials, private records on families, maintains billing, and oversees all the work done to burial plots in addition to taking care of monuments and records relating to them, and other tasks associated with running the business. The Safety and Emergency Services, Division of Radio and Technology in Pinellas County, Florida was able to provide uninterrupted emergency service during Huricane Irma thanks to its Rocket MultiVlaue Platform. Despite the torrential rain and 90-mile-per-hour winds, the county maintained uptime for emergency response systems to more than a million residents of St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and surrounding communities.
